Day of Giving

Marc h 3 - A day to show we're stronger together

This has been a tough year on all of us, our young Golden Bears included.

Most of our students are first-generation. Many of them have have experienced job losses or reduced working hours in the family. Some have even lost family members. And all of them - each and every one - was impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Even so, they stuck it out. They masked up and got to work in the classroom. They helped to test our entire campus throughout the year. They even played a crucial role in vaccinating the most vulnerable populations on our campus. All of this while navigating college in one of the strangest times in recent memory.

On March 3, we're asking our extended Golden Bear community to show these students that we stand with them. That we support them as they go through one of the most critical points in establishing their careers. And that we are, indeed, stronger together.

Give a little, or give a lot. But no matter what you do, know that our students will put your support to good use as they move into the world that waits ahead.

How to make a gift

You can donate online anytime during March 3 at dayofgiving.wvu.edu

To maximize our impact, we're focusing on three areas of need:

Cantrell L Miller III Memorial Scholarship

The Golden Bear community lost one of its greats this year with the passing of Mr. Cantrell Miller, who served as director of WVU Tech career services for many years. Cantrell's family has established a renewable scholarship in his honor, and we need your help to boost it to an endowed status so that it can continue helping students in his name for decades to come.

President's House Fund

As we look to establish our campus as a beacon of higher education in Southern West Virginia, we have begun the work of planning a new President's Residence on campus. This facility would provide meeting spaces for the Campus President to conduct business with local agencies. It would also allow us to attract and accommodate future presidents and their families.

General Scholarship Fund

The General Scholarship Fund helps us fill financial gaps for students who show great academic promise and financial need. It allows these bright students a chance to focus more on learning new skills and less on paying for them.
